Dave Elhard, President and Founder

As President, Dave leverages nearly 4 decades of expertise in Electronics Manufacturing, steering IMS toward success. He understands that the pivotal first step is defining the destination: What does the company aspire to achieve? Dave’s initial vision for IMS laid the groundwork, recognizing that effective leadership is paramount.

Dave’s leadership style is marked by its strength, fostering quick rapport and accessibility across all levels. Whether on the production floor, collaborating with various teams, or directly engaging with clients, Dave prioritizes understanding their needs, aligning with their business objectives, and devising innovative solutions to meet the highest standards. He cultivates and motivates his team through encouragement, support, humor, and genuine connections, exemplified by his daily “walkabout” on the shop floor to greet, inquire, and connect with his colleagues.

For Dave, work isn’t just a duty but a passion—a sentiment echoed in his belief that finding joy in one’s job eradicates the notion of “work” itself. His dedication to his role, colleagues, and clients fuels his pursuit of excellence. Dave’s educational background, including an Electronic Engineering Technology diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1987 and a Business Administration Degree from the University of Calgary in 1992, underscores his commitment to both technical prowess and business acumen.

Dave enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife Carrie of 33 years, their older son Brenden and his wife Sarah, and their youngest son Colton. Dave is an avid golfer in the summer and in the winter months, you will find him at a game cheering on his Calgary Flames or playing a competitive game of curling.

Stuart Henley, VP of Business Development

Stuart Henley, as the Vice President of Business Development at IMS, leverages over 35 years of Electronic Manufacturing expertise to drive strategic growth initiatives. By spearheading the development of new value-added services, Stuart enhances the customer experience and fosters long-term relationships with clients.

His visionary approach enables him to identify unique opportunities for both customers and IMS, leading to innovative solutions that propel business growth. Stuart’s commitment to excellence extends beyond traditional manufacturing boundaries, offering a superior level of service in the industry.

With a Telecommunications Technology diploma from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1988, Stuart’s knowledge and experience are instrumental in positioning IMS as a world-class Contract Manufacturer in Calgary. His dedication to manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction underscores IMS’s commitment to success in the Pacific Northwest market segment.

Brenden Elhard, Sr. Operations Manager

Brenden is the Sr. Operations Manager at IMS Electronics. With six years of service, he has been a major part of the company’s operational excellence and continued success.

Having been around IMS since he was 8 years old, Brenden spent many summers running around the SMT area acting as a conveyor. During his time at university, Brenden helped with cleaning the building and worked on the shop floor. He joined IMS full-time after completing his Bachelor of Commerce in 2018. Brenden transitioned to the production side shortly thereafter and his eye for streamlining processes and optimizing efficiency made it a natural fit.

In 2023, he earned his MBA in Project Management, further enhancing his strategic acumen and leadership skills. Brenden has been instrumental in implementing cutting-edge solutions and cost-effective strategies, contributing significantly to IMS’s competitiveness in the market.

His ability to identify areas for improvement has been key in spearheading cross-functional initiatives to enhance collaboration and synergy across departments. His strong analytical skills, coupled with his ability to motivate and inspire, have been integral to his success in the role.

Outside of the office, Brenden enjoys golfing, curling, and anything with an engine. Whether it’s tinkering on his motorcycle or helping to volunteer at his church, you’ll always find him keeping busy.

Tony Sauve, Manager of Advanced Manufacturing

Tony Sauvé is a seasoned Manager of Advanced Manufacturing with a diverse background in crafting high-tech solutions for industries ranging from consumer electronics to space exploration.

His journey in manufacturing has spanned the fast-paced world of cell phones to the awe-inspiring realm of space exploration. With a relentless pursuit of innovation and a keen eye for detail, he has led teams in developing cutting-edge technologies that have reshaped industries and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible.

In his role, Tony is passionate about harnessing the latest advancements in automation, robotics, and materials science to drive efficiency, quality, and sustainability across the manufacturing spectrum. Whether streamlining production processes for smartphones or engineering precision components for space exploration, he thrives on the challenge of delivering solutions that exceed expectations.

Beyond the factory floor, Tony is deeply committed to fostering collaboration and mentorship, empowering teams to embrace new technologies and achieve their full potential. His experience spans revolutionizing assembly lines in the automotive sector to orchestrating complex manufacturing operations for aerospace missions.

Tony is eager to connect and explore how his expertise can propel manufacturing endeavors to new heights, whether on Earth or among the stars.

John Wilson, Procurement Manager

John has been an integral part of the IMS team since 2011, serving as Purchasing Manager.

After graduating from college in his hometown of Ottawa he embarked on a career in the Electronics industry. Driven by new horizons, John made the bold move to Calgary in 1998, seeking fresh challenges and new opportunities (though his allegiance to his hometown Senators remains unwavering).

During his time at IMS, John’s leadership has played a crucial role in driving the company’s expansion from 50 employees to a thriving team of over 100. Widely recognized for his integrity and expertise, John has cultivated enduring relationships with vendors across the industry. In the office, John has a knack for brightening the atmosphere and lifting spirits.

Beyond the boardroom, John finds joy in many sporting events, immersing himself in the excitement of competition such as hockey, squash, and curling. You’ll often find John in his backyard, tending to his BBQ or smoker with precision, accompanied by his faithful companion Stella, his cherished dog.

Bernard Deschner

Bernard Deschner is a prominent figure in the manufacturing industry, renowned for his leadership and innovation. Raised on a farm in southeastern Saskatchewan, Bernard developed a strong work ethic and versatile skills early on. Graduating with Honors from High School in 1977, he then went on to further education, completing a Mechanical Industrial Engineering Technology course at NAIT in 1979.

Bernard began his career at Brytex in Edmonton as an estimator and salesperson for the Hydronic Heating Division, later establishing and leading a Calgary sales division. After the division’s acquisition by Engineered Air in 1985, he transitioned to a supervisory role in manufacturing.

In 1990, Bernard joined All New Manufacturing as COO, overseeing sales and custom precision CNC sheet metal fabrication. His dedication to high-quality, timely product delivery fueled steady growth for All New Manufacturing. Following a rebranding in 2004 that formed Electromec, Bernard left a year later to pursue new and challenging opportunities.

He then joined Allied Metal Ltd. as an equity partner and soon became president. Under his leadership, Allied Metal’s revenues increased fifteen-fold by 2017. On leaving Allied Metal, Bernard turned his focus to manufacturing consulting, system design, and helping businesses achieve operational excellence.

In late 2018, Bernard joined IMS, Innovative Manufacturing Source Inc., as a permanent consultant for their newly acquired Sheet Metal Fabrication shop as IMS looked to expand their service offerings to complement their Electronics Contract Manufacturing business. Bernard brought with him, knowledge and expertise that has contributed to the growth and success of IMS Metal.

Throughout his career, Bernard has exemplified his commitment to quality, innovation, and leadership, making significant contributions to the manufacturing sector from his early farm days to leading successful enterprises.

Roland Chua

Roland Chua brings over 20 years of experience leading high-volume global operations, supported by a mechanical engineering background and a master’s degree in management. Throughout his career, he has consistently delivered measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and cost efficiency, while ensuring full compliance with international quality, environmental, and safety management standards.

Roland has a strong track record of reducing defects, streamlining processes, and improving throughput by applying Lean principles and waste-elimination strategies. He has led major initiatives including Lean deployments, ERP migrations, APQP programs, and customer qualifications. Earlier in his career, he served as a Lean Coach, guiding teams through structured problem-solving, capability building, and operational stabilization during periods of change.

As a champion of operational excellence, Roland builds disciplined processes, develops high-performing teams, and drives sustainable improvements that strengthen quality systems, delivery performance, and overall operational readiness.

In his role as Quality and Lean Manufacturing Manager at IMS, Roland delivers immediate value by enhancing the quality management system, reducing process variation, and leading Lean initiatives that improve flow, eliminate waste, and increase first-pass yield. His leadership strengthens compliance, lowers operational costs, and elevates customer satisfaction, positioning IMS for long-term growth and operational excellence.
Outside of work, Roland enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending quality time with his family.
